It is officially almost Christmas....

Last night was the annual christmas concert at our school. As always I was struck by the incredible quality of our school's music program. It is not the reason we chose our school but it is a big part about why we stay. The music teacher is exceptional and they put an emphasis on music that one rarely sees in schools these days. The grade one's traditionally do a nativity scene complete with kids dressed as sheep with shepherds, angels, wise "men" and a ridiculously cute Mary who chucked a plastic baby Jesus into the cradle. It just doesn't feel like Christmas until small children re-enact a nativity scene!! The kindergartners stole the show with their song and the grade three's played xylophones. Several classes played the bells - our school has these very beautiful sounding bells, they are not the typical jangly type bells but long silver tubes - very pretty. Banana is now in the 5/6 Choir and they did an amazing job singing several songs. She also sang in a trio and did a beautiful job. She looked so pretty up on stage in her cream and black dress too. Gorilla's class sang as well and they even had some dancing choreography which surprisingly went off without a hitch. His class also played a recorder song and Gorilla did great! Now that the concert is done I am realizing that means it is truly almost Christmas time. Yikes.
