Today was day 1 of the kids four week skiing camp and both of the kids did very well. Like last week, Banana turned and glided down the mountain with grace - the definition of in control. Gorilla on the other hand was a wild man. He was more attentive to his teacher this time and did master the art of snow plowing and turning. But once he was out of his lesson, he kept taking off down the mountain with great speed. Apparently he knows how to turn, he just chooses to abstain from turning. We were skiing with some good friends that we never seem to have enough time to hang out with and they jokingly said that Gorilla was the Ricky Bobby of the ski hill. I had to laugh, it was so accurate! For those of you haven't seen this movie, here is a little youtube for you. The part where the kid is racing in the car is akin to Gorilla's skiing... "I wanna go fast!"
The weather was less than ideal (stuck in a wet cloud all day, foggy and rainy all at once) and the snow was rather slushy, but we had such a great time as a family and with our friends. Can't wait for next week!

I was telling dh how you are braving the ski hills and now he wants to go too. We haven't been since before we got married. Now we'll probably wait until we can take #3 as well but then we'll be broke after one day up there. Sigh.
Having spent a good portion of my childhood/teenage years growing up in North Van I got used to the convenience of Cypress and Grouse and that cheap night skiing.
Glad you guys are having fun, even if Gorilla is a bit wild. I think #1 would be too. In fact that is too scary to contemplate - LOL
one great thing about lessons is that parents get a 1/2 price day pass so that helps with the cost. But yeah, all of my expenses used to be paid for by my dad so the sticker shock did set in initially!
